Cause of Panic Attacks
Understanding the cause of panic attacks is very important. You want to be able to move on from them and enjoy your life. It can be easier said than done in the beginning but don’t give up. I know that I tried to pretend that they weren’t a big deal and to hide them from those around me. By doing so though they ended up occurring more frequently and lasting longer.
What I didn’t realize initially is that panic attacks can be caused by a variety of things. I also didn’t know it was such a common problem out there for people. Learning the cause of panic attacks gave me the information about them so that I stopped blaming myself for what was going on. I think being embarrassed by it was why I was hiding all of this from my family and friends.
That made our relationships tense and stressful so once I shared my situation with them they realized I had something huge going on in my life right now. I don’t think most of them understood all of it or the depth of the situation but they were there to help me get through it. They also encouraged me to continue looking for the cause of panic attacks within myself.
That way a huge stepping stone to making things better for me. You see, different people have panic attacks for different reasons. That is part of what makes it hard to identify them and to get them under control. For some people it is a stressful situation, the environment, part of their lifestyle, and even a particular smell that stirs of feelings from earlier events in their life. Being able to find that core cause of panic attacks though is very important.
It is going to take you some time to find the cause of panic attacks. Make sure you are looking for common links when they occur. It is a good idea to keep some record of your panic attacks. Write down everything you can about how you felt before, where you were, your symptoms, how long it lasted, and how you felt afterwards. The more information you have the faster you will find those common links that are your own cause of panic attacks.
The solution for you will depend on what you discover. You may find that getting your doctor, family, co-workers, and friends involved in that process can be useful as well. They can help you to identify things about the situation that you didn’t take in yourself. You will feel so much better after you learn the cause of panic attacks for you. It will help you to feel that you have the chance to make it better instead of helpless.
Don’t allow the fact that you have faced panic attacks in the past prevent you from having a very bright future. Don’t be discouraged either if it takes you a while to learn the cause of panic attacks. For me, it was a slow road to discover and one that I had to take part in before I could see the light at the other side. Finding yourself a great support system is one of the best ways to cope in the mean time.
