The possibility of how to stop anxiety attacks isn’t one that came to me when I first started having them. I was more focused on hiding the
situation and not showing people that I had a problem. I was experiencing one of the most special times in my life, planning my wedding, when I started to experience them. I didn’t want to tell my family or friends, and I figured it was just the stress of planning everything.
However, my anxiety attacks didn’t stop after the wedding. It became harder and harder for me to hide them from my new husband as well. We both have lots of friends and family that we did things with. Yet I was wanted to only be at home where I could prevent them. They only seemed to happen around a group of people so not doing that was my way of getting around it.
My husband tried to surprise me for my birthday with fabulous concert tickets to one of my favorite bands. I had an anxiety attack that night trying to figure out how I would either get through the event or explain to him that I couldn’t attend. I didn’t want to have a marriage based on lies so I decided then and there to be open with him about what was going on. Being the kind man he is, he helped me to go about learning how to stop anxiety attacks.
We spent hours together pouring over books and magazines to find out the best methods to explore. He also went with me to a doctor’s appointment so I could get some medical feedback on the situation. I learned that there are medical as well as natural ways of how to stop anxiety attacks. My doctor and I agreed that I should try natural methods first and only consider medication if I didn’t see progress from that.
What is very important and that people like me don’t know initially is that panic attacks are so common. We also don’t know that there are methods of how to stop anxiety attacks out there that we can take part in. I know now, and will do my best to help others as well. There is no approach that is better than others, but you have to find one that works well for you.
Doing my own research I learned that there are many reasons why people suffer from anxiety attacks. That is why different forms of treatment work for some people and not for others.
