Panic Attack Stories

I have so many panic attack stories to share with you, but I want to cover some of them that have been significant. The first one I ever had was when I was in high school. Instead of being able to enjoy that period of time in my life, I was afraid because of what was going on. Back then there wasn’t as much information readily available concerning panic attacks. I felt like I was alone and I didn’t even want to tell my parents what was going on.

My grades started to drop and so I was getting in trouble at home. My parents thought I wasn’t applying myself and so they didn’t want me to be as involved with friends and activities. That was fine because they less I was around all of that the less likely it would be that they would discover my secret.

One day the school guidance counselor asked to talk to me. She knew my goals for college and she too was concerned about my grades. I trusted her and opened up about what had been going on. I remember trying to explain to her the feelings of helplessness, feeling like I couldn’t breathe, and that sense of panic that would wash over me sometimes. I didn’t look her in the eye because I was afraid she would think I was crazy.

Instead she was very compassionate. She shared with me her own panic attack stories as well. Turns out she knew exactly what I was going through as she had been there before herself. It was very comforting to have someone that finally knew and that could relate to the problem. She helped me to tell my parents and to explore different ways to control my panic attacks.

My senior year approached before I knew it, and by then I had things back on track. Along the way I did suffer some panic attacks but I was able to find ways to control them through breathing, identifying triggers, and the support around me. For me, my panic attack stories have a happy ending. I was able to get passed the problem and keep my life on track.

Sharing my panic attack stories is something I do on a regular basis now. You see, when I went to college I wanted to explore a way to help people with the same problems I faced. I wanted to be that support for them so that they wouldn’t be hiding such a problem but seeking active ways to control and to cure their panic attacks. It is an extremely challenging yet rewarding career choice and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

No matter what panic attack stories you have of your own, you can find a way to make them better. That process involves taking the time to learn more about panic attacks. Once you know what they are, reasons they occur, and the various ways to control them you will have the ability to try things until you get what works well for you. Panic attacks once controlled my life but now they allow me to help others so that there is a happy ending for their panic attack stories as well.
